Why Bunnyjik

Bunnyjik Answers – Everything You Need to Know About Our Organic Bedding

At Bunnyjik we focus on one thing: creating genuinely better sleep environments for babies and children using thick, GOTS certified organic cotton – not cheap polyester or flimsy fabrics.

Organic Cotton, Safety & Certifications

Are Bunnyjik sheets genuinely organic?

Yes. Bunnyjik fitted sheets are made from 100% organic cotton and produced in certified facilities audited under the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). Our supply chain – from cotton through knitting, manufacturing and trading – is independently inspected and documented by Control Union (licence CU 1139680).

Every shipment into Amazon UK is backed by a Transaction Certificate, so the organic claim on the pack matches a real certificate trail in the background.

What does GOTS certification actually mean for my child?

GOTS is the leading global standard for organic textiles. It doesn’t just check that the cotton is organic – it also sets rules for how the fabric is processed and finished, including:

  • Minimum organic fibre content
  • Restrictions on dyes, finishes and auxiliaries
  • Management of wastewater and environmental impact
  • Social criteria for workers in certified facilities

For you, that means the organic label on a Bunnyjik sheet isn’t just marketing language. It’s backed by an independent system that follows the product along its journey.

Are Bunnyjik products safe for babies?

Bunnyjik bedding is designed for the most sensitive users – newborns and young children. Our manufacturing partner has been certified to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, Product Class I (baby articles), which is one of the strictest screening standards for harmful substances in textiles.

Class I covers items intended for babies and requires every component (fabric, thread, labels, trims) to be tested. We also continue to monitor our suppliers’ certification status so that our safety story remains more than a one-time snapshot.

What exactly are Bunnyjik sheets made from?

Our core fitted sheets are made from 100% organic cotton, using combed yarns for extra smoothness and strength. The cotton is grown in Turkey, then knitted, sewn and finished in audited facilities under GOTS scope.

The specific products we ship to Amazon UK are documented as 100% organic cotton on their Transaction Certificates – no hidden polyester or elastane blends in the sheets themselves.

Organic Cotton vs Polyester Competitors

How is Bunnyjik different from cheap polyester or polyester-blend sheets?

Many mass-market sheets are made in huge volumes from polyester or polyester blends. They’re cheap to produce, but they come with trade-offs:

  • Breathability: Polyester is a plastic fibre. It tends to trap more heat and humidity against the skin. Organic cotton is a natural cellulose fibre that breathes and helps regulate temperature more comfortably.
  • Microplastics: Polyester sheds microplastic particles in the wash and as it wears. Organic cotton does not release plastic microfibres into your home or water system.
  • Static & feel: Polyester can build static and often has a synthetic “rustle”. Cotton has a quieter, more familiar feel that becomes softer over time.
  • Comfort over the whole night: When a child sweats, cotton helps wick and evaporate moisture; polyester tends to hold it, leaving them clammy.

Bunnyjik takes the opposite approach: we pay more for high-grade organic cotton and premium knitting, and we publish our certification trail so you can see what’s behind the label.

Why does organic cotton matter compared with conventional cotton?

Organic cotton is grown without routine use of synthetic pesticides and fertilisers and must meet strict criteria all along the processing chain. Conventional cotton can still produce a soft fabric, but the farming and processing inputs are not subject to the same restrictions.

By choosing certified organic cotton for bedding – something that touches your child’s skin for hours every day – you’re reducing exposure to unnecessary chemicals and supporting farms and factories that are audited against environmental and social criteria.

Thickness, GSM & Fabric Quality

Why are Bunnyjik sheets thicker than typical baby sheets?

Most budget baby sheets are made from a thin single-jersey fabric at a relatively low GSM (fabric weight). Bunnyjik sheets use a double-knit interlock structure in high-GSM organic cotton, giving a noticeably plusher and more substantial feel.

Interlock knitting means there are two layers of loops locked together. This makes the sheet:

  • More cushioned and cosy for your child without adding foam or padding
  • Less see-through, so the mattress pattern doesn’t show through
  • More stable in shape – less twisting or skewing after washing

Is thicker always better?

For baby sheets, thickness on its own isn’t enough – you want thick and breathable. Polyester fleece, for example, can be thick but overly hot. Bunnyjik aims for the sweet spot: a generously weighted organic cotton knit that still breathes and moves moisture.

Our high-GSM interlock fabric delivers that extra comfort layer while the natural cotton fibre helps to regulate temperature, so your child feels snug but not stifled.

What GSM are Bunnyjik’s organic sheets?

Our GOTS-certified organic fitted sheets are made with a luxuriously heavy double-knit fabric around the 190–200gsm range, significantly thicker than many standard baby sheets on the market, which are often closer to lightweight t-shirt fabric.

That extra weight isn’t just about feel – it also improves durability and helps the sheet hold its shape over time.

Fit, Care & Everyday Use

How do Bunnyjik sheets fit after washing?

We design our sheets to be washed and dried frequently. They’re intentionally cut with a little extra allowance to account for the natural shrinkage that happens with pure cotton on the first few washes.

Once that initial shrink has taken place, the sheet stabilises and is designed to “lock in” to the correct size, hugging the mattress snugly without constant pulling or re-tucking.

Do Bunnyjik sheets contain elastane or stretch fibres?

The Bunnyjik fitted sheets sold on Amazon and through authorised partners are documented as 100% organic cotton. The natural stretch comes from the knit structure and the elastic sewn into the edge, not from adding synthetic elastane to the fabric itself.

Are the sheets noisy or “crinkly” like some waterproof or polyester sheets?

No. Because we use a soft, dense organic cotton knit rather than plastic films or high-sheen synthetics, Bunnyjik sheets are quiet when a child moves. There’s no crinkly, rustling sound – just the familiar softness of cotton.

How should I care for Bunnyjik sheets?

You can machine wash the sheets with your normal baby laundry. We recommend:

  • Washing before first use to allow the cotton to settle to its true size
  • Washing with similar colours
  • Using a gentle, baby-safe detergent
  • Tumbling on low or line-drying where possible

The high-quality interlock knit is designed to handle repeated washing while staying soft.

Packaging, Logos & Proof

Are you allowed to show the GOTS logo on Bunnyjik packs and marketing?

Yes. Bunnyjik packaging and labels use the GOTS logo and wording under a formal labelling approval from our certification body. That approval checks that the artwork, claim language and licence numbers are consistent with the products and facilities on our scope certificate.

How do I know the certifications are real?

You can always cross-check our licence number with the relevant certification body’s public database. We’re happy to provide certificate numbers and key details so you can verify that the documents correspond to real, current records.

Why Bunnyjik Leads in Organic Children’s Bedding

Why do you say Bunnyjik is an industry leader in organic bedding for children?

We focus our entire range around a simple idea: if a child sleeps on it, it should be as safe, natural and comfortable as we can make it. That shows up in several ways:

  • Depth of certification: We don’t stop at “organic” in the product title. Our manufacturing partners are under GOTS scope, we obtain Transaction Certificates for shipments, and we work with suppliers who meet leading chemical safety standards.
  • Fabric quality first: Instead of chasing the lowest cost, we specify dense interlock knits, combed organic cotton and generous GSM, so the sheet feels more like a premium garment than a disposable accessory.
  • Purpose-built for children: Product dimensions cover real-world mattresses (from SnuzPod/crib sizes to cot and cot bed), and we build in enough depth and stretch for a safely snug fit.
  • Proof you can see: From licences and certificate references through to sustainability badges on Amazon, we give parents the information they need to check our claims.

There will always be cheaper options made from thin fabrics and polyester blends, but our aim is to set the benchmark for thick, genuinely organic, evidence-backed bedding for babies and children.

Why do your products perform so well on Amazon?

Parents vote with their reviews. Bunnyjik organic cotton sheets have earned hundreds of positive ratings on Amazon, and certain sizes have been highlighted as “Amazon’s Choice” in their category. That feedback reflects the same things we obsess over internally: fabric feel, fit, durability and peace of mind about what’s touching a child’s skin.
