About Bunnyjik
We built the sheets we couldn’t find for our own son
Bunnyjik began with two parents, one newborn, and a three-year search for genuinely pure, plush organic cotton. This is our story.
Born in lockdown: our search for pure cotton
In 2020, in the midst of a global pandemic, we welcomed our son Dennis into the world. Like every new parent, we wanted to give him the gentlest, safest start possible. For us, that meant living organically—religiously.
When it came to setting up his nursery, we expected finding pure, chemical-free bedding to be simple. It wasn’t. We searched across the UK and imported sheets from France, only to be disappointed again and again. Labels claimed “100% natural,” but underneath the marketing were thin fabrics, cheap synthetic trims, and hidden polyester blends that caused our newborn to overheat and pilled after three washes.
Nobody was making standard baby sheets with the density, purity, and breathability a newborn deserves. So, we decided to make them ourselves.
Why we trusted certification, not claims
The deeper we looked, the more the word “organic” seemed to mean less and less. Brand after brand promised “100% organic” cotton, yet the fabric in our hands told a different story — some were stretching the truth, and some were simply making it up. We learned the hard way that a website, a label, or a product title can claim anything at all; nothing stops it.
That was our turning point. We decided Bunnyjik would never ask a parent to just take our word for it. We went looking for the one thing a brand cannot fake: independent certification. We found the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), audited by Control Union — a system that follows the cotton from field to finished sheet and documents every step. Our rule became simple: if we cannot prove it with a certificate, we do not claim it.
From the UK to the Aegean coast
Sultan grew up in Turkey, a region world-renowned for its textile heritage. Armed with her native language, clinical background in healthcare, fine art degree, and determination, she began reaching out to manufacturers across Turkey. We weren’t looking for off-the-shelf products to rebrand—we were looking for manufacturers willing to produce the exact ultra-pure, premium products we wanted to share with other parents.
When we visited the Aegean coast, we found our answer: 100% long-staple Aegean organic cotton woven into a heavy 200 g/m² double-knit interlock fabric. It was close to double the weight of typical baby sheets (~120 g/m²). It didn’t need elastane or synthetic plastics to stretch—its natural resilience came purely from the density of the weave.
Three years of devotion
Building Bunnyjik took three years of intense hard work and complete personal investment. Sultan led the direct collaboration with Turkish suppliers to turn our vision into reality—holding every product to strict standards of newborn safety and aesthetic elegance—while Stephen leveraged his extensive IT, project management, and operations background to build a seamless supply chain and brand infrastructure.
Today, Bunnyjik is our family’s full-time passion. Every batch of our bedding is independently audited under the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) by Control Union, backed by full Transaction Certificates (TCs). We built these sheets for our son, and we are proud to share them with your family.
Sultan
Co-Founder & Head of Product & Supplier Development
Sultan holds a Fine Art degree from the UK and served as a nurse in Turkey. Her unique perspective combines a clinician’s care for newborn skin vulnerability with a fine artist’s eye for tactile quality and design. Rather than accepting off-the-shelf nursery bedding, Sultan works directly with manufacturers across Turkey to produce the exact products Bunnyjik envisioned. She spends 3 to 4 months every year on the ground working closely with suppliers—building deep relationships, conducting hands-on quality checks, and ensuring every product meets rigorous GOTS organic standards before it reaches a baby’s nursery.
Stephen
Co-Founder & Head of Operations & IT
Stephen’s background is rooted in IT, Project Management, and operational strategy. Well before the modern LLM revolution, Stephen worked with catsAi—a forward-thinking, boutique firm dedicated to helping local brick-and-mortar stores leverage AI to optimize their business operations. At Bunnyjik, Stephen applies his rigorous project management discipline and systems background to oversee international supply chain logistics, e-commerce infrastructure, and financial operations. An avid windsurfer and active traveler, when Stephen isn’t optimizing supply lines, he is on the water, teaching 5-year-old Dennis to windsurf, or learning Turkish alongside him.
